2 thesps board Drake Doremus project
DavisTortorellaEXCLUSIVE: Newcomer Mackenzie Davis and "Scream 4" star Nico Tortorella are in negotiations for two key roles in Drake Doremus' untitled feature.Guy Pearce, Amy Ryan and Felicity Jones are set to star in the pic, which finds Pearce playing a high school teacher who's tempted to cheat on his wife (Ryan) with one of his students (Jones).Davis will play Pearce and Ryan's daughter, while Tortorella will play a supporting character named Aaron, a popular jock on the swim team who has a reputation for sleeping with girls and treating them poorly.Doremus, whose upcoming romantic drama "Like Crazy" won the Grand Jury Prize at Sundance, is directing from a script he wrote with Ben York Jones -- though like with "Crazy," the cast is required to improvise.Super Crispy Entertainment principals Jonathan Schwartz and Andrea Sperling will produce along with Steven Rales and Mark Roybal of Indian Paintbrush, which is financing. Davis, who's repped by Thruline Entertainment, will make her feature debut with the project.Tortorella, who recently starred in "Scream 4," is currently wrapping Stephen Sommers' "Odd Thomas." Thesp previously appeared in Joel Schumacher's "Twelve" and will soon be seen in the helmer's thriller "Trespass" alongside Nicole Kidman and Nicolas Cage.
