are dvds 1080p (making question longer cause yahoo answers wont let you ask short questions)?

cause i want to get this netbook and someone said it can play 720p but
not 1080p and ill be playing dvds on it.
your confusing me, you say no dvds are, then you say that they are
only 480p or 576p im a bit confused please explain it better cause i
dont get what you mean
